Using the right protein to decrease post-weaning diarrhea

The type of protein fed after weaning influences the gastrointestinal tract and the incidence of post-weaning diarrhea (Heo et al., 2013). The main goal after weaning is to maintain a healthy gut and to overcome the negative effects of weaning. Recent research from Pluske et al. (2017) is showing the effect of feeding a vegetable or animal protein source on the excretion of E. coli. Next, we discuss the influence of protein digestibility on the risk of diarrhea incidence in piglets.
